Teaching

Dr. Shomper has over 20 years of teaching experience to students of all ages!  Many of his students have gone on to pursue degrees and careers in music, and have been accepted at many music schools and conservatories around the country.

‘I am endlessly fascinated by the way the study of an instrument and the language of music affects the brain, and how that development filters down into and positively affects other physical activities, academic disciplines, and the overall emotional health of a student.  The harder a student works to achieve success at the cello, the more likely they will achieve these extramusical benefits.  I am, as a result, quite demanding, not because I need students to be winning competitions or going to conservatory, but because I want them to get the most out of all the benefits the study of music can provide.’
